Haddington was indeed
home to this very popular make of bread.
Bermaline (a type of malted meal flour) bread was "a treat to eat".
There was also a bakery in Fairlie Street, Ibrox, in Glasgow.
Although Bermaline bread has long ceased production
the working mill/maltings still stands next to the Tyne
at the Victoria Bridge, albeit minus the ornate "spire". |
