
This advert from 1971 highlights the ESB's
presence in East Lothian High Streets.The
Edinburgh Savings Bank was established in 1836 as
the National Security
Savings Bank of Edinburgh
and
was certified under the Savings Bank Act of 1835.
In 1975 the Bank merged with the South of Scotland Trustee Savings Bank
to form the Trustee Savings Bank of Scotland.
Later that year
amalgamation took place with the Dunfermline and District Savings Bank.
In 1977 Dumfries Trustee Savings Bank was brought into the series of
amalgamations.
Finally in 1983 the Trustee Savings Bank of West of Scotland along with
the
Trustee Savings Bank of Tayside and Central Scotland and Aberdeen
Savings Bank
joined together to form the
Trustee Savings Bank Scotland.
