This wartime view of the Post Office shows Polish soldiers opening savings accounts.
An officer (right) translates for Margaret Kerr & Postmaster Willie Todd.

The first Post Office in Gifford was situated below the village hall and when it relocated
to the Main St. occupied the house now called Stonewell.

In 1938 Willie Todd bought the house next to Stonewell and converted one of the front rooms into the Post Office.

Mr Todd is seen second from the right in this photograph.
His son Ian later held the same position from 1962 until 1981.
