Interesting letter to the 'Haddingtonshire Courier' dated May 7th 1879.
We can only be thankful that "intermiddling officiousness" is a thing of the past!

What a grand chap....   but who was "Giffordiensis"?

Dave Murray writes..    "During my time with the 'Courier' in those pre Fire Brigade days, 'Giffordiensis' was the name given to
                             the supplier of local news from your part of the outback that Reporters feared to travel to."
