The children are sitting on the grass triangle between
the Kirk and what I initially thought was an
earlier design of war memorial, perhaps for the Boer war, which can be
seen behind them.
The structure is in fact a water trough surmounted by a very ornate
paraffin lamp.
Is the young lady practicing her putting?
The two storey building behind the trees was the Police Station.
