"A Bit of Gifford" .........looking up Duns Road.
Postcard dated 1913.

The building beyond the pend, to the right of the dog, is Hodgson's Bakery where the Co-op now stands.
The Co-op demolished this property (was it damaged by fire?) & erected
a "purpose built" shop on the site in the 1960's.

The ground floor of the building on the right has seen substantial change since this photo was taken.

Given it's size, the tree on the left must have been very old.
With a tree like that it's no wonder that the dog appears contented with life.
Note also the drinking trough and its ornate lamp to the left of the picture.
