The Bolton Open 2006

The 2006 Bolton Open was held on Saturday 10th June, a day which
turned out to be one of the hottest of the summer.

A good turnout included Open President Alan Steven & his sons Angus & Duncan,
Gifford Golf Club green-keeper Jimmy Combe, brothers Jimmy & Willie Gray,
Jock Lothian and his son James, Jim Tait, Robert Maslowski, Alan Pratt, Ian Whyte,
Alex ('Ecky P') Paterson, Eric Thomson, George Tait, Bill Brotherston,
Ali Rollo, Dave Shearer & Ian Thompson.

The event was honoured by senior golfer Willie Fairgrieve (above) who was invited
to ceremonially strike the first ball of the day.

The Open would normally consist of two rounds of the nine hole Gifford course with refreshments
after the first round, but due to the extremely hot weather conditions not all the players
went out for the second nine.

The event was won by Angus Steven from Bolton, nr Gifford.

After the competition a meal was enjoyed in the Goblin Ha' Hotel followed by
an evening of conviviality in the Public Bar.

The following pages show some images from the 'Open'.
They shouldn't be taken at all seriously.
