Sadly, another Lime tree shows signs of it's great age by
shedding a large branch across the
Gifford to East Saltoun Rd. at around 6am on 7th July 2007.
The thinner of the two black lines on the tarmac is in fact
a fallen telephone line.
Given the amount of leaves on the trees they look perfectly
healthy but are in fact getting rather brittle which,
considering that the older ones are over 200 years old, is
probably no surprise.
The last of
these Limes to fall was on the night of Hogmanay/New Years
Day 2007.
Thanks to
Derek Jennings for these images.
