The Saltire Plaque

In the year 832 Pictish and Scottish warriors were engaged in a battle
with the Northumbrians, and tradition holds that during the fighting
a white crossed cloud formation was seen against a blue sky.

Thus the Scottish flag, or Saltire, was born.

It may, of course, just have been "con trails" from military aircraft
which are commonly seen in the area.

This poor quality image is from November 1965 and shows the unveiling of a
plaque to commemorate this defining event.

If you have a better quality image of this event that you could supply please let me know.
