Looking West

Garvald from the corner near the Church........ looking back up to the bridge over the Papana Burn. (1925)
The "burn" runs towards the viewer and passes behind the houses to the left.

Garvald Main St. is at the top of this street and curves round to the right.

A couple of the buildings on the right look like they were shops and although
the two storey house, "Treetops", was owned by my family, none of them can
remember its purpose as a commercial, as well as a domestic, premises.

Note the bare hillside in the background.......later planted with trees by the community at Nunraw.

The Sancta Maria Abbey at Nunraw is reached by turning left, up the steep hill,
at the top of this street.
