electricity pole visible in the background.

A kettle could still be boiled on the open fire but I remember that the water pipes
were frozen for a time, and I found out the hard way that it takes about
half a ton of snow to make an inch of water.

Try telling that to youngsters nowadays and they won't believe you. (© M.Python)
