Whittinghame (sic) Tower, from North East........card postmarked January 2nd 1907.
I stayed at Whittingehame between 1978 - 1980 and it was always spelt with
that extra "e".
The postcard was sent from Gifford to my mothers aunt in Leith.
The message on the back is quite interesting.
"The railway was blocked and it took
me two days to get home. I had to stay all night at Gifford.
The train took twelve hours to get to Gifford on Friday. You can imagine how
I felt."
Given the date of the postmark it's a fair assumption that snow was the
cause
of the
railway line blockage somewhere between Edinburgh/Leith & Gifford...
....and his slow onward progress from Gifford to home.
(Without certain knowledge I'm having to assume he stayed at Whittingehame)
