Brown St. Haddington, looking down to the High Street from
Leslie & Leslie's corner.
The tall building on the right looks like it may have had a slightly lower
structure attached to it
at some point and the smaller brick built structure has taken part of its original space.
That building, itself, looks as if it's had an entrance or window blocked up.
If it's a window then the large size would suggest that this was a "works"
rather than a house.
Note also the tall chimney stack. Is this building a very slim "lean-to" ?
There appears to be some sort of pantiled balcony just
above
the small boy who is "hamming it up" for the photographer.
The street is infinitely more attractive then than it is now.
Date unknown........possibly late 1890's?
Let me know if you can date this more accurately.
Despite some modern day enhancement it's an amazingly good quality photograph for its
age.
